My hubby rocks! Look what he did this weekend! Playgroup is going to be so much fun on Friday. We're gonna get out the water table and the baby pool too! Would s'mores on the firepit be too much? Yeah, probably.

New Project!

While shopping for fabric the other day, Maggie found a bolt of owl fabric. The rule is...you can't just pick out fabric, you have to have a project in mind. As she brought me the bolt she said, "I want you to make me a dress out of this.". How could I refuse?

a moment of thanks

I have the greatest friends in the world. I really mean it. When the shit hits the fan, they come running with paper towels, clorox wipes, and margaritas. I couldn't do this daily grind without them. As I write this, Maggie is upstairs in my bed, sick, watching her 3rd hour of consecutive cartoons. And by 3rd, I mean 4th. Who am I kidding, right? But it's keeping her happy and resting and she loves NickJr. The moms in my moms group sent no less than 7 emails sending get well wishes to us as well as the other sick kiddos in the group (who may or may not have whooping cough), when we told them we wouldn't make it to playgroup today. They make me smile, they make me laugh, they make me feel a part of something. When you become a SAHM, part of who you were disappears. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what I do now. But, if you know me, you know I'm social and I needed to find that again. I found it in my friends, my other moms, my commrads in the trenches. We can do this. We can do this together.

So...you see that cute little black tee staring at you from across Target. It gets your attention, then screams, "I'm on clearance.". So you run over and grab it in your size, as well as a couple of its more colorful friends. You run home and put it on, because store clean is still clean right? (Those who've worked retail, shut it). You look in the mirror and say, "I look darn cute, if I do say so myself." You return to your daily grind looking ever so spiffy. When it's time to put to pjs on and tuck in for the night, you decide to catch one last glimpse of your ever so cute self only to discover....that in a house with 2 cats, 2 kids, and all that goes along with it...you black tee makes you look like a damn walking lint roller.

Jacob's One Year Photo Shoot

Yesterday we went to campus to shoot Jacob's one year photos. Yes, I know, he's almost 16 months old. We've been busy, cut me some slack. We took the bikes and our point and click and had some fun. Grand Idea for Fabric Selection = FAIL

Well, as you have been watching over the past week or so...I have been redoing the ol' bloggity blog.  There are new pages, new prices, new selections.  For the most part, I thought through the changes and have a plan for completing orders.  Well.....that is until traffic picked up.  I have had more orders this week than ever...AND I LOVE IT!  But, when it comes to the fabric choices for the nursing covers, my idea totally backfired.

Here was the idea:  Person looks at selection of fabric pictures and chooses one.  I run to the store and buy said fabric and then make it and ship it.  Simple right?  Well....nope.  The problem is quite simple.  I posted the pictures from fabrics I had used in the past.  I thought it would be simple enough to find the fabric again, because a) I really only shop from 2 stores; if it isn't in one store it has to be the other, right? b) the selections don't really change that much, right?  The first order with the new system required 2 unsuccessful trips to fabric stores looking for a fabric that was long discontinued, followed by a 3rd trip to purchase the 2nd choice fabric.  So, 3 trips total with a minimum of 25 minutes drive time one way, as well as lugging two children, assorted sippy cups, snack cups and other assorted gear.  This, my friends, is not efficient.

Here's the new idea:  I have purchased enough fabric to make exactly 1 nursing cover in the listed fabrics on the nursing cover page.  If you see something you like....GRAB IT....I may or may not be able to find it again.  If you saw something you liked and it disappeared...feel free to ask if it can be found again.  I'll do my best, but no promises.

SO.....now off you go to check out the new fabric choices...go on...

ps:  Maggie picked out the CuTeSt owl fabric while we were there today.  I asked her what she wanted me to make for her and she said...."A dress, please, with a bag."   I looked in the simplicity patterns and found one for a little jumper dress and a little purse, on the same pattern!  Yipee!  I will post pics....if I ever get it made.....
