December 3rd - DECEMBER DAYS OF CRAFTING

Project courtesy of June Tailor
and JoAnn Fabrics
Supplies:
  • 2 rectangles 10” x 15” red fleece
  • 1 rectangle 14“ x 3 1/2“ white fleece
  • Thread to match
  • 9 bells for zigzag edge stocking
  • 2/3 yds. 1” red satin ribbon for scallop edge stocking
  • Rotary cutting mat (optional)
  • Rotary cutter (optional)
  • Fancy Fleece™ Ruler (optional)

Directions:
For Both Scallop Edge and Zigzag Edge Stockings:
  1. Enlarge pattern (click here) on printer or copy machine to measure 14” long by 8 1/2” wide.
  2. Place rectangles of red fleece ride sides together. Place stocking pattern on fleece and cut out. Using 1/2” seam allowance, sew together sides and bottom of stocking. Press seams open and turn stocking right side out.
  3. Fold white fleece in half widthwise, right sides together. Sew a 1/2” seam down short 3 1/2” side. Press open seam.
  4. Place right side of sewn white fleece inside sewn red stocking, aligning top raw edges and seam of white fleece with back seam of stocking. Using a 1/2” seam allowance sew cuff to stocking.
  5. Pull white cuff out of stocking.

For Zig-Zag Edge Stocking:
(It recommends the fancy fleece ruler, but I did all my cuts freehand)
  1. Lay stocking flat on rotary cutting mat and align raw edges of white cuff.
  2. Align raw edges of fleece with zigzag line as indicated on the Fancy Fleece™ ruler. Position such that the top of the zigzag pattern is on the cuff seam. Using rotary cutter, cut zigzag pattern across edge of cuff. Courtesy of June Tailor
  3. To cut diamond shapes, fold cuff in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Align fold of fabric with line of diamond cut out shapes as indicated on the Fancy Fleece™ ruler. Position such that diamonds will be cut out between the zigzag pattern.
  4. Fold cuff right side out onto stocking and press seam.
  5. Embellish with bells sewn to points of zigzag cuff.

For Scallop Edge Stocking:
(It recommends the fancy fleece ruler, but I did all my cuts freehand)
  1. Lay stocking flat on rotary cutting mat and align raw edges of white cuff.
  2. Place scallop edge of Fancy Fleece™ ruler close to edge of white cuff (both layers aligned). Center one of the ruler’s scallops on the cuff with other scallops extending beyond either side. Cut scallops across entire cuff edge.
  3. Place the “slits” portion of the Fancy Fleece™ ruler, centered top to bottom on cuff, with the slit marked 0” on fold. Cut remaining six slits across cuff.
  4. Fold cuff right side out onto stocking and press seam.
  5. Weave 1” satin ribbon through slits beginning at front and center, and ending front and center. Tie a bow with the excess ribbon. Trim tails if desired.
